  • ftp login info getting corrupted

We upgraded to Zoom v7 for Mac last week. ftp worked for awhile but no won't upload due to login error. When I check the ftp tab in Zoom I find that both my password and remote path have been corrupted. The password is not only 3 characters long (rather than the usual 10 character/symbol one we use) and the path shows Qf@g rather than public_html/zoom
When I re-entered the correct information, switch tabs and go back to the ftp tab the correct info has reverted back to what I described above.
The other settings remain the same: ftp.sitedomain.com, port 21, Use PASV mode. Again, this worked a few times and then this happened. One other thing, when I'm entering the ftp info the field boxes flicker in a slow pulse rhythm and with each keystroke.

I'm running an iMac with system 10.8.5

    Thank you!

We could not reproduce this problem. Could you e-mail us your .zcfg file? Our email details can be found on the Contact Us page or Support page.

Have another issue as well. The spider is missing some pdf files and not others that are in the same directory. These files have no security settings. When I scan JUST the directory these files are in it catches all of them but when I scan the entire site it does not. I also added an html file with links to all of the pdfs in the directory and put together an html file in the root directory linking to the index file in the docs directory and still no luck.

If you are using Spider Mode, then it all depends on having links to the pages.

When you scan just the directory, I presume your web server is returning a directory listing page. So it has links to the files. But your site probably doesn't link to this directory by itself.

If you have added a HTML file with links to all the PDF files, this should be OK provided this very HTML page is actually linked from the rest of your site (i.e. the spider can crawl to it by following links from the START spider URL).

Also need to make sure you have disabled spider caching ("Configure"->"Spider options"->"Reload all files (do not use cache)") if you have made small recent changes and you need the spider to pick this up.

If you still have trouble, send us the .zcfg file like I said and we can take a look.

UPDATE: Just noticed your ticket in our emails. So I'll get back to you once I've seen the .zcfg file.

Got your email this morning. I've responded. Regarding the other issue above, I have a file in the public_html directory called docsdirectory.html which links to my html file within the docs directory. That file is named index.htm which lists and links to every doc in that directory. Still missing a number of pdfs in the spider. Not using cache. When I scan just the docs directory it does pick up all the files which would lead me to believe there is nothing wrong with the files themselves. I've tried both php and cgi. Not sure if I mentioned that the majority of the site is driven by Wordpress.
Again, thank you for your help : )

Would be easiest if you can give us the URL to the pages in question and we can take a look. Hard to guess by description alone.

Worth checking that your base URL allows the links. Check your skip messages in the Log as well if there's any indication of those URLs and why they may have been skipped.

Other common spidering problems are described here:

              Site url is http://pstrust.org

Link to the docs index files I mentioned above are as follows:

              http://pstrust.org/docsdirectory.html

              which has a link to

              http://pstrust.org/docs/index.htm

which lists as links all of the files in the docs directory, including the ones being missed spider.

No skip info on those pdfs that are not showing in the search. The file names do not come up at all in the full log.

              Base URL is http://pstrust.org

I've been through the FAQ listed above. None of the situations apply. : (

Any word on the ftp login corruption? I've tried all of the things you mentioned above.
Thanks again for your help on this.

I can't find a link on the main page (http://pstrust.org/) which links to http://pstrust.org/docsdirectory.html

If there is a link from a page further within the site, please tell us know.

I tried entering the docsdirectory.html URL as a start point and it successfully followed the link to "docs/index.htm" and index the PDF files listed. If there is a particular PDF file not found, let us know which.

I sent you an email regarding this. I was asking if you can provide the actual FTP details or at least let us know if you have a special character (not alphabetnumeric). Or try to reproduce the problem with a password similar to your real one if you wish to keep it confidential.
