  • Cant create the XML sitemap file!

I created a sub domain name called: http://library.ponics.org. The indexing of all the files works perfectly. I tried to create sitemaps also.

    1) one for Yahoo in .txt
    2) one for Google in .XML

I can create the one in .txt ..but as hard I tried to create one sitemap in XML format it does not works!

    I tried:

    http://www.ponics.org/library/
    http://ponics.org/library/
    http://library.ponics.org/
    http://library.ponics.org

    Error message is:

"Empty XML sitemap created (no valid URLs found). Check if your Sitemap Base URL is incorrect."

I have the latest version, built 1016

I dont index on line. Everything is off line, I mean it is indexed from my computer. I am using categories also.

Again, sorry if I am repeating, the script can create the urllist.txt sitemap but not the sitemap.xml one.

    I read the instructions carefully:

    http://www.mysite.com/news/index.html
    http://www.mysite.com/news/page1.html
    http://www.mysite.com/news/archive/test.html

Then you should have your sitemap files hosted at: http://www.mysite.com/news/ and this should be your Sitemap Base URL.

    Any help welcome!

XML site maps should only cover 1 web site. They should not contain URLs from multiple domains.

Are you indexing only 1 one sub-domain or multiple sub-domains?

    From the Users Guide.
    Note:
A Sitemap Base URL is required to generate a XML sitemap. This is
because a Google Sitemap can only contain URLs within the base URL of where the sitemap files are to be hosted. This also means that you can not create a sitemap which contains URLs spanning across multiple domains. Zoom will utomatically exclude any URLs indexed (or any recommended links) which is not within the specified Sitemap Base URL. See "Uploading your XML sitemap files" below for more information.

      Just one sub domain name

      Hi!

The domain name is: http://library.ponics.org nothing else! I mean that there is no other sub-domain name at all.

You can see the sitemap created at: http://library.ponics.org/all.html. I used the one that the script created as a .txt!

So maybe by reading this site map you will see something wrong inside!

      Thanks

Did you check the Sitemap Base URL setting as mentioned in the error message?

This is the setting in the Configuration window, under the "Sitemaps" tab (below the "XML sitemap format" checkbox). This base URL need to match the base URL you are using on the "Offline mode" tab (which I presume to be "http://library.ponics.org/").

          You know your "stuff"! Fixed!

You were right on the ball! There was a missing " / " in the web address exactly where you told me to check.

After a while, you just see the trees but not the forest!

          Happy! Happy! Nice sitemap!

          Thanks
