Highlighting With Customized Colors For Each Result?

Is there a way to customize the highlighting feature, so that each different search word is highlighted with a different color, in the search results?

There is no built-in feature to highlight search words in multiple colours at the same time. You can change the one highlight colour via CSS however -- but all words will be highlighted in that colour you specify.

Anything else would require custom development, and it also depends on whether you're talking about the highlighting on the search results page, or the highlighting on the content page (with the "jump to highlighting" javascript feature).
