Configure -> Scan options
why only .xls the option "Retrieve internal meta information" is disable? but it is enable for .xlsx, .doc, docx, .ppt, .pptx.

Support for XLS files (and many other proprietary formats) are provided by plugins from third-party developers.

The XLS plugin (provided by the XLHTML GPL Project) does not retrieve any meaningful meta information from the XLS file format. This is why the option is not available.
