  • Why is ZoomSearch skipping this pages??

    HI again,
I added a new asp page to my site which gives a resume of the information you can find at my site www.webometrics.info. As new pages has been added I launched the Zoom Search to upadte the results so the pages can appear at the results, but to my surprise this links are skipped. The links are like this http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=cesumar.br which belongs to my site but ZoomSearch skip it saying (External site - does not match base URL), why is this happening?

What is the base URL you are using?
Can you cut and paste the exact line from the Zoom log file, so that we can see it.

Hi, the base url is a local one from my test server which is converted afer the serach with the correct one www.webometrics.info. This is just a small part of the log with the skipped urls (there are much more, 6000 to be exact):
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=harvard.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=stanford.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=columbia.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=tamu.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=umd.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=ucla.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=purdue.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=jhu.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=cam.ac.uk (External site - does not match base URL)
01|10/16/09 12:26:30|Skipping http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=psu.edu (External site - does not match base URL)
Zoomsearch is treating them as external URLs and I don't know why

PS:if you prefer I can send you the zipped log

the base url is a local one
It might have been good to tell us what it actually is. But I assume it is something like, http://localhost/

In which case links to pages with the www.webometrics.info will in fact be external links, as they are external to //localhost/.

Sorry I thought that you would understand me. I have a test server with a local IP (your localhost) which during the search is transformed into the right one using the option of Rewrite links. So the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP part from my test server is changed for www.webometrics.info, but everything searched is an internal link like the ones from the log beacuse alll of them point to www.webometrics.info. Indeed, you just put http://www.webometrics.info/details.asp?univ=harvard.edu in your browser and see that it is inside my site. Hope you understand better my problem with this URLs, thanks

If the base URL you have set doesn't match the URLs of the site being indexed then the URLs are considered external. See my previous post.

A link to //www.webometrics.info/ from //localhost/ is an external link.

Can you PLEASE tell us what is the base URL you have set. And what is the URL of the site you are indexing (not the URL of the final site where you are trying to move the files to).

If you don't want to tell us the base URL, thats OK. But don't expect very helpful responses if you don't answer the questions.

Remember also, that you can specify multiple base URL's for any one start point by separating them with semi-colons. For example:

              http://127.0.0.1/;http://www.webometrics.info/

This base URL will allow for links to both domains be considered as internal links. See chapter 2.1.5 of the Users Guide. If this still doesn't help, then you really should give us the actual base URL's you're using as suggested.

Thank you Ray for your help. You gave me the hint to solve the problem. I added to my website a dynamic link that instead of directing the asp results to the test server's IP it was pointing to the live one. Since it wasn't on the base URL as you suggested the asp result was skipped because indeed it was an external link.
And regarding the last answer from Wrensoft there’s no need to be harsh or even shout. Hope next time we could understand each other better
