  • Title Tag affecting IMAGEZOOM

We are trying to associate a thumbnail w/ our search results on certain pages by using the ZOOMIMAGE Meta Tag.

Here is an example of what is happening:
    1. The format of the Title Tag is <title>Something - Other | Website Name</title>
    2. Our first page has the IMAGEZOOM tag
    3. Our second page does not have the IMAGEZOOM tag

In the search results the result linking to the first page show no thumbnail while the link to the second page shows the HTML markup of a thumbnail with the src of the image being "Website Name".

We noticed that the src was pulling from the Title Tag and must be breaking the thumbnail functionality.

When telling ZOOM to not index the Title Tag it fixed this issue.

Does anyone have any idea why our Title Tag would be affecting our IMAGEZOOM?

What exact version of Zoom are you using? Can you post a link to the two pages in question, or cut and paste the entire <head> section of the pages here.

It may also help to note that the tag is ZOOMIMAGE, and not IMAGEZOOM.

If you have checked that you are using the latest version, it's possible that the problem is related to the pipe (vertical line) character in the title, due to a bug as described in this post:

If that is the case, removing the pipe character in the title (or using &#166 would be a workaround.

If that doesn't help, give us the link or <head> code as instructed in the above post.

We are using Version 6.0 (Build: 1016) and we did eventually narrow it down to the pipe character and thus replaced it with ¦ for the time being. We will look forward to the 1017 build. Thanks for all the help!
