How to limit number of results?

Is it possible to limit number of results returned by Zoom 6, without modifying search.php file?
I.e. display only first 250 even if 5,000 exists in the index:

    Search results for: bankruptcy
    1146 results found. <---------
    115 pages of results. <---------

that seems to be too much for a site with 6,000 pages

What is the benefit of displaying an incorrect number of results?

Only 10 are displayed on the page at a time by default in any case.

You can limit the maximum number of results matched via the "Optimization" bar under "Configure"->"Limits" (which changes the "Max matches" value).

I'm not sure if this is what you want. This can make searches run faster and prevent searches running too long on your server.

If you care to elaborate on why you are trying to do this, or what you are actually trying to achieve, we might be of more help.
