The search engine, by default is NOT case sensitive.

You most likely turned this on yourself on the "Languages" panel of the Configuration tab by checking the option to "Support single-case languages (e.g. asian languages)". Uncheck this option and re-index for it to take effect.

You can have it case sensitive or not. But you can't have both on the same site. But you should be able to search for words in the same case as they appear on your site. In your example able how did the word CMDA appear on your site, in upper or lower case?

If your site has sections for different languages, you should consider creating separate indexes for each language. It's not ideal to have a single search function for multiple languages (especially when the languages are so vastly different in nature such as Chinese and English).

If your site is predominantly Chinese, and you have a small set of English terms that you need case insensitivity for, you can try creating Synonyms for them such that, cdma=CDMA, for example.
