  • Only 1 result appearing - Custom Meta Fields, Type Drop down

    Hi,

    Recently I have had success using "Custom Meta Fields, Type Multi Select".

    I am now using "Custom Meta Fields, Type Drop down" on this page:
    http://www.navahomes.com.au/houseland/search/search.asp

    A search for 300 to 400 in the drop down provides 1 result:
    http://www.navahomes.com.au/houseland/543_Sayers_Rd.html

    And it has the following meta name:
    <meta name="houseland" content="$300,000 to $400,000" />

    However,

    A search for 400 to 500, provides no results appear. Whereas, the following page should appear in results:
    http://www.navahomes.com.au/houseland/test_location.html

    It has the following meta name:
    <meta name="houseland" content="$400,000 to $500,000" />

    Any ideas as to why this method isn't picking up any other values?

    Regards,

    Helen

    That latter file does not appear to have been indexed. You can verify this at time of indexing (in the "Log" window), or by using "Index"->"Manage existing index"->"View or delete pages from existing index".

    As to why it is not indexed, see these FAQs:
    Q. Why are some of my pages being skipped by the indexer?
    Q. I am indexing with spider mode but it is not finding all the pages on my web site

    Note also if you are using Spider Mode, and you are making quick changes and re-indexing immediately, you should make sure you to disable the caching (under "Configure"->"Spider options", by checking the option to "Reload all files (do not use cache)").

      Hi Ray,

      Upon looking under these tabs, the file has not been skipped ie: not in the skipped list.

      The "Reload all files (do not use cache)" option had been checked also.

      I changed the "the Zoom limits" in case that was it, however the files still aren't being indexed.

      The only thing that has changed since last indexing and searching successfully - is the addition of a Shockwave Flash animation, however not used for navigation - only for use in the banner at top. Would this make a difference?

      Regards,

      Helen

        Are you using Spider Mode? In that case, see the second FAQ linked above. The file may not have been skipped, but if no link could be found to the page, then it won't be indexed.

          Apologies, yes - using Spider Mode. I hadn't realised there weren't any links "to" the test pages, I'll create some & re-test.
