  • Indexing a scan of an article

    I have a scan of a magazine article which I wish to have indexed. I have created a desc file as follows

    <title>Ship of Shame</title>
    <meta name=”description” content=”Article on Cerberus from RoyalAuto April 2006”>

    <meta name="zoomwords" contents ="the 1,700 word article">

    Is including all 1,700 words of the article inside the zoomwords metatag acceptable?

    No, you will most likely hit the maximum length acceptable for meta keywords (and ZOOMWORDS) which is 1000 characters. This means only the first 1000 characters of your ZOOMWORDS tag would be indexed.

    FYI, your HTML example above contains a typo. It should be "content=" and not "contents=". Just in case that was actually a cut+paste from your real webpage.
