  • indexing result links incorrect

    My directory structure is so:
    start directory: K:\MESP_Site\Useful_links
    Base URL
    http://mesp.comserve-nl.com\MESP_Site
    Output directory: K:\MESP_Site

After indexing and filling out the search page I get a link to the following incorrect directory:
    http://mesp.comserve-nl.com/MESP_Sit...cure_Hotel.doc

I am missing the subdirectory: Useful_links\ in the link to work. This happens for any sort of indexing.. I am always missing the main subdirectory.

Even if I make my start directory: K:.\MESP_Site\ I always get missing sub directories for links.

    Please help.

If you are using offline mode and you want to use the start directory,
    K:\MESP_Site\Useful_links\

then maybe your base directory should be

    http://mesp.comserve-nl.com/MESP_Site/Useful_links/

In general however using spider mode is better than offline mode for a website. Using spider mode will index dynamic PHP and ASP pages correctly. Offline mode will not.

      Re: indexing result links incorrect

Turned out I had to change to my base directory k:\... Then everything worked. Links had correct address.

Spider indexing will not work as it keeps saying I do not have enough memory. I have 512mb.

      strange...

Check the values you entered in the "Limits" tab of the Configuration window. This affects the memory required at the start of indexing. One common mistake is setting the "Max file size limit" in terms of bytes. The limit here is specified in kilobytes, so you should only need "5000" here if you wish to index files of up to 5 MB in size, for example.
