  • Seperate search pages with different attributes, Possible?

I run a PHPBB site with a paying members area. Because of PHPBB's search limitations we are going to purchase a more powerful search script. This script has many of the features we are looking for however I have a question.

Is there a way to have 2 seperate search pages for the same site? One search page would search our members area while within our paying members area. The other search page would be on the index page for prospective members to browse. This search would search the members area but only post the topic thread headings not letting the person see the whole thread.

    Thanks

You can definitely have two separate search pages, with each searching different content. You will need to have two indexing configurations setup in Zoom, with different page skip lists (the list of pages not to index) and different start points (where to begin indexing). This way each configuration will index a different part of your site.

Restricting one of the search pages to only show headings is possible, but you can not have it alternate between showing headings-only for members pages, and showing headings+context for non-member pages.

You should also take a look at this FAQ regarding indexing phpBB and other forums:

As always, this is a wide topic and implementations and requirements can vary greatly. We would recommend experimenting with the Free Edition and see exactly what it can do, and let us know if you come across a more specific problem.
