Manual indexing after adding new content periodically?

Sorry about the super-basic post, but I couldnt find any info to verify my question.

I am developing a site which a client will be updating periodically.

Would this require an index and upload within Zoom search everytime there is new content added, to include that content within the search?

Yes, however, you can schedule Zoom to index (and upload) automatically on a regular basis. See this page for more information:
