We recently converted our newsletters from the past 5 years to PDFs. The newsletters from 2 years prior are in PHP. We would like to control the sort order of the results by date in descending order with the newest issues first follow by older issues. We assume we can use "Last-Modified" meta date tag for the PHP files but what about the PDFs since they were created recently. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can specify a Meta Last-Modified tag for the PDF files by creating .desc files. See this FAQ for an example of a .desc file:
