  • .ppt (Unsupported Content-type)

I just downloaded Zoom 4.1 and ran it. Everything went fine except the error that .ppt is unsupported. I re-downloaded all the plugins and unzipped them into the 4.1 plugin folder.

When I open zoom it says in the log that .ppt, .pdf, ect are supported.

    I didn’t have this problem with v4.0.

    Any ideas?

What content-type header is your web server returning for .PPT files?

Version 4.1 looks at the content-type in the HTTP header to determine the file type. If none is specified, it would use the filename extension (as it did in Version 4.0).

If you are getting this problem, then your server must be setting a content-type header, but one that is incorrect or not expected. The expected content-type for powerpoint files are "application/mspowerpoint" and "application/ms-powerpoint".

If you are unable to determine what this is on your server, give us a URL to the PPT file and we'll take a look.

      Here is the page:
      http://www.cdrg.org/pub_pres/presentations_01.htm

Here is one link on that page:
      http://www.cdrg.org/pub_pres/files/2001/61M_ASN_01S_reuse_bleach_&_hosp.ppt

I just ran 4.0 and it indexed .ppt fine.
So I re-ran it with 4.1 and got the error.
I checked the configuration, but I don’t see anything wrong.

      It’s weird.

        Just a note:

This site is still in the development stage. I’m still working on the content, links etc.

The next step, (design, look, feel), were the boss wants it to look “sexy”.
Next thing he’ll tell me is that it looks too “wed-ish”, or he’ll say that he wants the one of those “thingys that’s on that one website, you know the one.”

Anyway, I just wanted to say that Zoom has been great.
It has made me look good. The boss thinks I’m a master programmer.
We’ll just let him think that.

Your site is returning a content-type of "application/vnd.ms-powerpoint". We'll have to add this to our next build. If anyone are having other problems with "unsupported content-type" this upcoming new build should also address it (Version 4.1.1002).
