  • Search.cgi editing to rename template

Hi! Is is possible to edit the search.cgi file? maybe using an editor and recompile the file... I am requesting this because I find it extremely hard to customize the settings using the Zoom software. For example, I would like to change the settings variable "TemplateFilename" in the settings file to another filename.

Note: I am using CF and CGI.

Regarding the template file name, there have been several previous posts about this.

There really is nothing to gain from changing the template filename. This file should never be accessed by the end user directly.

Regarding editing the CGI there have also been serveral past posts on this topic.

If you do really need to customise the CGI script you can use the Zoom SDK.

But in most cases customisation of the CGI is not required (which is a good thing as re-writing the CGI is hard work). You can often get the results you want editing by only editing the CSS and HTML in the search_template.html file.

The upcoming V6 release will also help in this area by supporting more advanced templating options, so that you can specify exactly what elements of the search page to be displayed and where (e.g. you can repeat the pagination links, have the summary appear in a different table or div than the results, etc.)
