  • using Zoom Search in a Flash document

Have a Flash header on home page and would like to include the Zoom Search in the Flash. Have been able to add the actions to open up the search page but it is not showing search results. Any Flash experts who can help?

    Thanks, CG

I assume that you want to show the result of a search within a Flash animation.

We don't have much experience with Flash, but it should be possible by writing some Actionscript code.

I understand that you can call and external script using the loadVariables Actionscript command and get the result back in a variable that you can print out inside your Flash animation.

You might also need to write some additional Flash code in order to handle the Next and Previous page links.

We don't have any Actionscript code examples to do this, but could research the problem as a consulting job if you have a budget for the job.

Thanks for your reply. I don't need to show the results in the Flash animation. I just need it to show results. I've been able to get it to open up the results page but it's not showing the results.

So you just want to create a search box in Flash that will open up the search results on a new non-Flash page?

Make sure you have correctly specified the zoom_query parameters etc. as given here for the HTML search form:

And here is a Macromedia KB article on creating a form in Flash:

There is now a working example of adding a Zoom search box using Flash in our FAQ here,
