  • how to add a cached page link

Is there anyway to add a link to a snapshot of the search result page like google's cached page? The cached link will link to a html file on the server.

This wouldn't really make much sense if you're using Zoom to index your own website. That is, the search engine is hosted on the same server as the files you are indexing. Unless you plan to have a cache of all the old pages on your server but this is quite unlikely.

So I'll presume you are indexing other people's websites. How many pages are you indexing? Have you considered how much disk space you would require to store a cached copy of all pages that you have indexed?

Many things that Google do are simply possible because they have an enormous amount of storage, and servers. Whether that is practical or not for you depends on what you have available. Google is estimated to have over 450,000 servers, each with several 80GB+ hard disks.

There is no built-in feature to do this at the moment, because it simply isn't very practical in most cases. The storage space required would rule it out for most users.

      Hi Ray

Agree with your Google analysis but it would be a great feature. People indexing outside websites would usually have a narrow (vertical) focus so could manage "what gets indexed" and "storage resources" relatively easily.

      Cheers
