CGI setup with GoDaddy

I was wondering if anybody has any experience setting up the binary executable CGI of Zoom with a GoDaddy Linux hosting account.

I've set the file to executable, but when I try to run it, the web server is not attempting to execute the cgi file. Instead it just returns the CGI's internal binary code.

I've contacted GoDaddy support, but it seems they don't have a clue.

So maybe someone has had a similar issue and can give me some suggestions to solve this.

BTW: the PHP version runs ok on the server.

We've never used GoDaddy hosting, so can't really comment.

However, I did a quick search on Google, and it appears they offer CGI support for certain accounts types ("Hosting Configuration 2.0"?):

On the other hand, Google also gave me this blog post which seems to suggest that their CGI support is less than stellar:

The fact that their support is unable to answer your question or provide the above information is probably a clear warning sign though.

I've sent GoDaddy a second support ticked, and got this reply:

Our deluxe and premium hosting account are not set up to allow the usage of binary executables through CGI. They are only intended for the use of scripting languages that require it (Perl, Python, etc.).

So it looks like I have to use the PHP version for now.

Maybe you could setup some list of hosting providers that do offer the option of running binary CGI's.
