Can it search both delimited and not?

here is an example. I have a file called bereavement.pdf that appears just fine when I make periods delimited.

However, when I make them undelimited any search for bereavement turns up no result.

The reason I need to keep periods from seperating words is we have some links/files called:

    bf12.1
    bf12.2

Is there a way to make the bf12.1 searchable witht the periods, as well as the bereavement file by delimiting it?

Would make "pdf" an unsearchable term work? or not?

Your PDF file would probably be best served if it had a meaningful title. That way, if it had a title of "Bereavement" or "Bereavement document", etc. it would match on a search for the word, and would not depend on matching the filename. You should enable "Retrieve internal meta information" for .PDF files to do this.

You could also use wildcards, and search for "bereavement*"
