  • Working with a PDF in the search results...

This is probably a silly question, but...

When clicking a PDF in the search results, is it possible to:

    (a) Highlight the searched-for word in the opened PDF, and...

    (b) Automatically "jump" to the searched-for word?

    TIA

Yes, there is an option for this. See chapter 2.15.5 in the Users Guide and the section entitled, "Highlight and locate within PDF documents (PDF only)"

Drat! So you have to be using The Great Red Whale as your reader.

I prefer the lean mean readin' machine that is Foxit Reader.

Do you have any information about calling this feature if the reader is capable? The Foxit folks are a progressive bunch and I'd certainly like to let them know about it, see if they'd be interested in incorporating the capability into their reader.

The Adobe specification for URL parameters are here. If other PDF reader browser plug-ins support the same URL syntax, in particular the "search" parameter, they will work automatically.

I have a suggestion to improve Zoom's functionality for people who prefer an alternative to the Adobe reader. See this thread.
