  • Problems with search.php - wants to download php file

    Hi

I have gone through the process of indexing my site and uploading it onto my server. However, when I go to access the search.php page which is located here http://www.itoms.com/ItomsSearchTest/search.php it seems to want to download the php file, rather than open the page. My search template page is located here

    http://www.itoms.com/ItomsSearchTest/search_template.html

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong, or is it my ISPs server, as i tried it with .asp and .cgi and it was the same result, it tried to download the file rather than open it in the browser.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatfully received.

    Thanks

    See this FAQ:
    Q. I've indexed the site, uploaded the files, but I only see the search script code when I open the search page in my browser (or get a prompt asking if i want to download it)

Your web server does not have PHP enabled. You should check with your web host whether this option is available to you on your hosting plan. These days, almost all web hosts provide at least PHP or ASP support, and it's hard pressed to find one that don't (unless they're free).

Given all that, you can still use the Javascript version, as this has no server-side requirement.

      Hi,

Oh sorry, I did not see that FAQ. I did have a really good read of the manual, before i decided to post. Yes my web hosting company claim to support php, but whether they have enabled it or not, I do not know. I shall have to contact them shortly. Thank you for the quick response by the way.

      Regards
