  • confused to index with many folders

    dear mr zoom,

I am registered user, Bambang Setiawan.
I am so confused how to spider or configure indexing for many directories for many categories in my project.

my project is simple, (first, I thought it is so simple).
    I bought doc-to-html converter software,i.e BCL Magellan 6.5.
I converted over 40 word docs, which yields over 40 folders.
then I bought zoom to index it.

I have read zoom manual.pdf , but still confused.
which one is fit for me, offline mode or spider mode ?.
    please give a suggestion .

because the folder structure,I can't easily define which is my base URL.

in offline mode, there is ''more button'' ,
how many directories it can support ? (maximal)

for your information, I have made simple test_project which has 2 categories.
    and it work fine.
but I have no idea to do with complex folder structure.

any reply, suggestion,or work around is welcome.

thanks in advance for your attention,

    Bambang Setiawan

If you are using Offline mode, Zoom will index all files and sub-folders under the "start directory" that you specify. You do not need to specify each folder yourself. You would only need to use the "More" option to specify folders which may be outside of the "start directory".

You can use Spider mode if your website is already hosted on a web server. This method does not depend on a file structure, but instead, it relies on hypertext links on the web pages to locate files to index. You should use this if your site is "well linked" (ie: every page is linked to another page via normal hypertext links, and not Javascript etc.), and if your site uses server-side scripting (such as PHP or ASP) to dynamically generate web pages.

    Hope that helps.
