  • Organising search results

    Couple of questions:

    a) Is there a way to get Zoom to list the most recent entries overall/in a given category, i.e. in effect perform a search with no search terms and list the results sorted by date?

    b) Is it possible, without going the xml route, to eliminate from the main search list those entries which have already been picked up as 'Recommended links'?

    Thanks.

    a) You can sort results by date if you have this option enabled (on the "Search Page" tab of the Configuration window). It is generally not recommended to ask a search engine to search or show "everything" because it can be really slow and exhaustive. In fact, most search engines such as Google and Yahoo, for obvious reasons, block this on purpose.

Having said that, there is a way to ask Zoom to return all results and that is by using a wildcard search query of "**". "*" can also work if you have configured Zoom to not skip words that are less than 2 characters (under the Skip Options tab of the Configuration window).

    b) There's no option for this feature at the moment. As the recommended link may not be the first result (and so one could look at what is programmatically considered to be more or less relevant), and the context description is often useful with the matched word, most users would prefer having the page always appear amongst the search results regardless of whether it was also recommended or not.
