  • Search in Greek is case sensitive.

    Dear Sir,

I have downloaded your search engine (free version) and I have tried to make it work on a Greek intranet.

It works fine but I have the following problem. The Greek search is case sensitive (English works fine). The encoding that I use is UTF-8 and I do not want to change it. I am using your CGI version (I have also tried the ASP one).

Is this a know issue for you? Can it be resolved?

I would appriciate you prompt reply.

    Best Regards

    Stathis

There are known issues with languages like Polish and Greek and searching for case insensitive characters. We are currently investigating the issue on the CGI platform and experimenting with some possible options. We will provide updates on our progress as we go.

We've just released Version 5.0 build 1008. This includes a large number of changes, one of which is improved UTF-8 searching in the CGI version which caters specifically to problems like the one above.

Both Polish and Greek words in UTF-8 should now search case insensitively using the CGI version. This used to depend heavily on locale settings of your web server, but it is now no longer the case, and should work on all servers.
