  • date parameter - metadata

    Hello All,
    I have everything working in the search side, but still having a problem with the date sort order.
    All the files that I'm using (approx 100) were all batch created on the 8th Feb 2007 - so the creation date and modified date is the 8th Feb 2007. When I try to sort by date the search is a mess and not chronological . I have also tried several utilities to edit these dates but none will actually edit the meatadata in the files themselves .

    2 questions:
    1- what date does the search engine use for filtering (created or modified)?
    2- Any ideas on how to edit that metadat without resetting my computer clock for each file and re-saving..

    Many thanks
    John

    1.) Zoom uses the last modified date of the file.

    2.) You can specify a meta tag with a last-modified date that will override the actual file's date. Please see chapter 7.7 "Specifying a last-modified date for your web pages" in the Users Guide:
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/usersguide.html

    As example would be,
    <meta http-equiv="Last-Modified" content="Sat, 07 Apr 2001 00:58:08 GMT">

      Thanks again

        Not a problem, with PDF files, you can create a .DESC file containing this meta tag. See this FAQ for info:
