Category Limited To A Specific Directory

Is there a way to have a category limited to a particular directory (other than using ZOOMCATEGORY in the META)? Suppose I want the root directory as one category and then several sub-directories as separate categories - Is this possible?

Yes, categories can be specified by text that is matched against the URL. So you can create categories for:

/mysubdir1/

You can also create a category with multiple patterns, eg.

/news/;/reviews/;/forum/

There is also an option in the Category window that specifies "Files belonging to this category can not belong to any other category". You can enable this option for all your subdirectory categories, and then use the "Catch files not belonging to a category in..." option to create one for your root directory.
