  • no spelling sugestions with zero results

    The problem:

I do not always get spelling suggestions with zero results. I do get spelling suggestions with lots of results so the option is working.
related with these words, i then miss the message when no results are found, "no results found." Sometime i see this response div< or <div c
So it just seem to miss certain words..

    just try: administration of ed
random characters like asdfg seems to work the way it should...

The CGI script seems to be terminating before it can finish execution.

The termination point seems to be somewhat random.

I think this might be becuase either,

    1) The webserver is killing the script becuase the limits are set too low on the server.

    2) There is a corruption in the set of index files causing a crash. Re-indexing and re-uploading ALL files might fix this.

    3) There is a bug in the spelling suggestion function in the CGI that we aren't currently aware of.

If you could zip up all the search files and either E-mail them to us, or put them on your server for download, that would be good.

link to requested files via PM.

There are no limits on the script. it's running on our own IIS 6.0 W2k3 server SP1.

I scheduled a total reindex between 00.00 hour GMT +1
( it takes aprox 3 hours to complete)

You didn't provide us with the "settings.zdat" file so we were unable to fully replicate your situation. Can you send/provide this file as well.

We had a quick look at the files you did send us and attempted some tests with a guess of your settings, but did not come across any problems.

We did notice that you have some temporary files left over from a possibly failed incremental indexing session (several 0 byte ".inc.tmp" files). Did you attempt incremental update? If so, did this problem occur before or after?

If the incremental update failed, there may have been an error message reported by the Indexer. Always check your index log.

sed sent us the other files we needed, and we were able to track down the cause of the problem. It is a bug in the current CGI build - that causes it to crash when there are 3 spelling suggestions available for the search query.

This will be fixed in the next build (V5.0 build 1004).
