  • New Index - Search not Coming up with a Key Word

I just did a new index on this site: http://www.attinc.com

I added this new page: http://www.attinc.com/target-pg28.htm

When you type in Probe Offset in the search box - the most obvious and actual page is not coming up. Can this be remedied in some way? Also, how come it is not coming up?

    Thank you,
    Frieda

The files were not indexed. You should look at the messages in the Indexer window during and after indexing, which would give more information as to why a file was not indexed. You can also click "Verbose mode" to enable more information on skipped files.

There are many reasons why a file was not indexed. Some of them are mentioned in this FAQ:
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/support...s.html#skipped

For your site however, it appears that you have indexed exactly 50 files only. This is most likely because you are using the Free Edition. You should have seen an error message explaining that indexing stopped after 50 pages because of this.

If you need more files to be indexed, you will need either the Standard or Professional Edition. More information here:

      Hi Raymond -

I purchased the Professional Version (v. 4.0) plus the CD last August - so I am not using the Trial Version. However, the program is set to 50 files and will not let me change it to 150 file so that I have the entire site indexed.

I paid $114 aprox. for this program, including the CD. It was working fine several months ago. I have the email and the phone order number, should you need it. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled and it still will not let me change the number of files to be indexed. Mt hard drive crashed in January and I installed the program from the CD. Could they have sent me the wrong CD? After having paid so much for the program - I hate to think that this will not be remedied. Please help and thank you so much.

It may have lost the registration information when you uninstalled the software (particularly if you have reinstalled Windows for example).

Does it say "Free Edition" in the title bar of the application? You can also confirm this and what version of the software you are using by clicking on Help->About.

Make sure you enter in your license key information (by clicking on "Help"->"Enter license key"), as instructed in the original email that was sent to you after purchasing.

If you still have problems, then please let us know.

Yes - it did say Free Trial. Fortunately, I found the email with the registration key etc. Got it going.

However, it is not indexing 2 of the pages and I cannot see why as they are the same as all the others. Can you take a look and see why?

          http://www.attinc.com/target-pg12f.htm

It says it could not download file, highlighted in pink.

Thanks for the info on getting this going. Knew I had saved that key somewhere - writing it on the sleeve of the CD this time.

I can't see any obvious reason why these files might cause a problem.

Maybe there was a temporary problem with your internet connection or your web server at the time.

If you repeat the indexing are these files still having problems?

              Hi David -

Yes - the same thing is happening. I indexed3 times more with the same results. Is there a way [to remedy this?

              Many thanks!

I have now indexed your site myself.

In your initially post you didn't include the full details of the error message. Here is the full message,

Could not download file: http://www.attinc.com/target-pg12E.htm (File not found)
Could not download file: http://www.attinc.com/target-pg12F.htm (File not found)

Compare the URL that Zoom had an error with and the URL that you posted above,
                http://www.attinc.com/target-pg12e.htm
                http://www.attinc.com/target-pg12E.htm

There is an important difference. The upper and lower case 'E'. URLs are case sensitive. So this means that you have a broken link on your site. You have a page on your site that incorrectly links to "target-pg12E.htm".
