how to change number of "result pages"?

Is there any way how can I hange number of "result pages"?


Now I have 20 pages between Previous and Next

it looks like this:

<< Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 Next >>


and I need to reduce it to 10

something like this:

<< Previous 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Next >>


I know how to change number of results displayed per page, but this is not an optio,n because I have very large web (+100,000 pages) and I can't display 100 results per page.

I saw it on this web:

but I still can not figure it out.

The value is hard coded. A script change is required to make the change.
