What is the recommanded encode type to write the zoompage.zdat file?

I have Version 6 zoom indexer enterprise edition and indexing via command prompt.

When I am rewriting the zoompage.zdat file what character set i have to use? UTF8 or anything else?

I think you are asking for trouble re-writing this file.
The files are linked, with pointers to certain byte offsets in various files. You can't just add & remove text from part of the index without updating the rest of the files.
