Skip Options Don't Work As Indicated In Help Doc

I am developing a website with information about cooking and food. When searching for the word "canning" it is skipped because the word "can" is in the skip options. The Zoom help doc says that this should only happen when there is an asterix in front of the word, example "*can", however this does not appear to be the case. When the word "can" is removed from the skip list too many pages with the word "can" and "cans" are in results. It appears that either the help topic is incorrect or there is a program bug. Please advise.

It is due to the stemming functionality.

You can turn off stemming from the Languages configuration window.
