  • Installing Zoom Indexer on webserver being indexed?

I've just started researching Zoom for our county government intranet website. I get the impression that the Zoom indexer/spider software is installed on a workstation and then the index data files are uploaded to the a website, where the search form/search results software is installed.

I'd prefer to install the indexer on the webserver that is being indexed. It is Windows Server 2008R2/IIS7.5. And then I'd like to use the Zoom Scheduler or the Windows scheduler to automate the process of re-indexing the site every night.

Is this a supported configuration? Are there any reasons why I shouldn't try this?

    Thanks for your help

Yes, it is a supported configuration. You'll need permission to install software on your server, that's all.

    See this FAQ for scheduling
