  • Title adding skip word/letter "a" to the end of the link

    Hi All,

Just trying to troubleshoot an issue we are having when searching for a phrase that contains the letter "a" in it. Our settings are to exclude anything less that 2 characters and it says it is skipping "a" however the results that get generated it does something to the hyperlink titles for the documents (see below)

When I search for example: try a trade

It will return all results like below where it has appended "a>" to the end of the title

It will do this to any search phrases that contain "a" in the middle so is not specific to these results, if I change the search for example to: try trade it will display correctly (see below).

If anyone could shed some light why this is happening when searching for items when the letter "a" is used as it doesn't seem to happen to other skip words etc and any suggestions to correct this behaviour would be greatly appreciated.

This is not a known problem.

What script are you using (ASP, PHP, etc..)
Did you edit our script at all?

I am wondering if the 'a' in the results is really the skip word, or if it is actually part the HTML anchor close tag </a>

    If you search for
    try b trade
    do the results change to
    Try a Tradeb>

It's the a in </a> that's highlighted as </<span class="highlight">a</span>>, because you have one </a> too many, like so: </a></a>. Did you edit the search script source code? This would be within the <div class="result_block"> bit, right before <span class="category"></span>.
