    reduce weight for a directory

is the only way to reduce weight for a specific directory by using the custom meta tags?
i see that you can set a start point and weight for the start point. Its not clear to me how that works. If the start point will go on to find the whole site is the whole site affected by that weight or just the start directory?

Yes, the weighting given to the start point applies to all files found from that start point.

But you can limit the start point to a folder.

For example if I use this URL as a start point,
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/index.html
and this URL as the base URL,
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/
Then only files in the /zoom/ folder will be indexed by this start point.

Depending on what you are doing you might need to add additional start points to cover the rest of the site.
