  • Too many words - not relevant to page

    How can I get this: http://mikes-rental.com/zoom/search.php?zoom_sort=0&zoom_query=scag&zoom_per_pa ge=10&zoom_and=0

    to look like this: http://search.freefind.com/find.html?oq=echo&id=32335307&pageid=r&_charset_=u tf-8&bcd=%C3%B7&scs=1&query=scag&Find=Search&mode=ALL &search=all

No matter what I try with or without choosing meta tags, Zoom either puts in too much info not relevant, picking up text on menus as well as titles and descriptions and FreeFind seems to pick up much less and relevant.

We're wanting to switch to Zoom but can't if we can get it more neat looking and relevant.

    Thanks
    Tina

p.s. We do plan on purchasing at least the least expensive package but am using the free version for testing. I've also changed from 30 words showing to 130 because the first 30 were ESPECIALLY not relevant and had to extend the wording to at least pick up content about the item.

The major difference appears to be that the context description you have set in Zoom is larger. You can adjust this back to it's default value (or any other value) from the "Results layout" configuration window.

Other less significant differences are the fonts used and the width of the page. This can be adjusted via CSS in the zoom_template.html file. See this FAQ for details.

The freefind page also has a bunch of advertising on it. But I assume you don't wont this & Zoom doesn't have any unless you add it yourself.

Some of your pages have titles of around 300 characters. The general recommendation it to stick to a max of 60 or 70 characters.

If you want Zoom to truncate most of your titles like Freefind then set a limit in the "limits" configuration window.

To exclude text (like menus) from indexing see this FAQ.
    Q. How do I prevent parts of my webpage from being indexed (eg. exclude navigation menus, or page footers)?

You can also dump the instructions on your home page for people to use CTRL-F with Freefind. You can use this script instead.
    Q. How do I enable Jump to match and highlighting within documents?
