Serve results as HTML vice XHTML

Just curious if the search results page can be served as HTML (i.e. no escape /'s on self-closing tags like <br> instead of <br />.

I am embedding the results in a 4.01 Strict doc and it won't validate due to the slashes. Not a big deal...just a question. It would probably be easier to just convert my page to XHTML.

This product is great...way easier than I thought it would be.

There is no easy way to force it to the old HTML4 standard.
You would be better off getting to comply with the newer XHTML standard.
