  • What is wrong here. Searching tif files.

Professional edition used for cd search creation

I have a folder with 10 tif images named by a persons name:

    bob.tif
    claire.tif
    etc

Zoom created the search files ok.

when i search a valid file name it returns zero results.

log shows: error could not find meta information

What does this refer to? how best to resolve this?

Without knowing the specifics of your configuration setup, I cannot comment concretely on the solution to your problem.

The image indexer plugin reads meta information from images. If your .tif files have no meta information, you can tell Zoom not to read meta data from them. In your Configuration, go to the "Scan options", select ".tif" extension and "Configure". Uncheck "Retrieve internal meta information", also check that "Only index images larger than XX kilobytes" is set to a size so your .tif files will be scanned.

For more information on image indexing, please see the following FAQ:

There is an option to index file names. (In the indexing options configuration window).

So if this is on, the file name will be indexed.

But it might get indexed as one word, "claire.tif", or two words, "claire" ".tif". This depends on if the dot character breaks the word or not. This behaviour is also controlled from the indexing options configuration window.

So try a search or claire and claire.tif, one word should return results.

          Hi

what about just typing in part of the file name ie 'clai'

should this pick it up as it isnt in my case.

          thanks for your advice

If you do a wild card search,
            clai*
then it should be found, if you are indexing files names.
