  • Security of cgi versus php?

    Hello,

Any information/input about using the cgi option instead of php from a security stand point?

Generally I've favored cgi in the past but would appreciate hearing other opinions.

    Thank you.

There are no known security issues with either in V6.

CGI is an interface (the common gateway interface). PHP is a programming language. So in this sense is doesn't make sense to compare them from a relative security point of view.

If you are comparing the two search options search.cgi and search.php, then it is hard to know. The only single security issue there has been (many years ago, and fixed at the time) was a cross site scripting issue. Which effected both scripts, and was unrelated to the programming language.

      Thank you David.

Purchased the Pro version yesterday and must say it is a very impressive program.
