New V6 performance benchmarks now available

We've finally updated our search performance benchmarks for V6. You can find them here:

Some interesting observations could be made in comparison to the previous version of Zoom (V5), particularly in regards to performance and capacity.

• The performance of the PHP script has improved and is faster in V6 than in V5 in most cases.
• The JavaScript option has been significantly improved in capacity. In V5, it would only be capable of searching around 1,000 pages. Now, it is capable of searching up to 60,000 pages (note: actual numbers depend on content indexed, and browser used).
• The new native ASP.NET Server Control (introduced in V6) performs well and is almost as fast as the C++ compiled CGI. This is to be expected since the ASP.NET Server Control is also compiled and derived from the same code.
• The new V6 "Stemming" feature can potentially add significantly to the search time (especially for exact phrases). This was expected since it would require a much more exhaustive search, depending on the words in question. You can disable stemming for faster searches.

Note that a direct comparison of the results from V6 and V5 is not possible because we have added many new features which change the nature of each search (for example, the aforementioned stemming feature which means a single word search can potentially find more than 10 different words).
