  • Zoom Search Engine- Required files upload using Dreamweaver

All required files uploaded using Dreamweaver FTP are transfered as ASCII and not BINARY. The only ones that I added to the FTPExtensionMAP.txt of Dreamweaver is the ZDAT as binary. Are all files such as the :search.php, settings.php,search_template.html and the 6 index data files to be uploaded as binary or just the "search index data files" only. Dreamweaver uploads :HTM,PHP as ASCII. PLease explain. Thanks.

The binary / ASCII thing is only a problem is you are uploading from a Windows machines to a Linux machine using FTP.

If this is what you are doing, then,

It is safe to upload all the Zoom files as binary. This is what the built in FTP module in Zoom does.

It is NOT safe to upload all .ZDAT files as ASCII. Doing this will leave then corrupted and result in many mysterious crashes while doing a search.

It is safe to upload HTML and PHP files in ASCII.

In general we suggest using the built in FTP module in Zoom so you won't need to worry about this.
