search results not consistent

Hello,
I am indexing by filename only for several thousand files, mosting pdf, doc, xls and tif files. The indexing completes without error. When I enter a search value of 'as-built' (no quotes) the proper line is displayed (it is 'as-built drawing.doc'). When I enter *.doc then the same line is not dislayed but other filename lines are displayed. I am running version 4.2 Professional.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Can you post the URL to your web site so that we can see the problem.

In the Zoom configuration window on the "Indexing options" tab. Do you have the "Dots" check box checked?

These settings would determine if the words indexed by Zoom are,

as built drawing doc (4 words)

OR

as-built drawing doc (3 words)

OR

as-built drawing.doc (2 words)

Which will in turn effect the search results.
