Logging failure

Trying to set up a log of searches.
All search files are in folder /search/
Made a folder /search/logs/
Set the Log attribute in the Advanced section of Configuration.
Set /Logs/ attribute to user read execute write (700)
Can't set to 755.

No message at the bottom of the search page.
No file created in /Logs/

What am I doing wring please

There is a FAQ for getting logging working here. It covers all the common issues.

Are you in fact using Linux or Unix as a host? Or on Windows with a FTP client that tries to emulate the Linux rwxrwxrwx permissions?
Are you running the PHP, ASP or CGI script option?

Depending on how your server is set up, User only permissions of '700' might not be enough. For example, it depends under what user account the PHP module is running, if you are using PHP.

Read the FAQ andas far as I can see, I've complied with everything except CHMOD which I can only set to 700.
Have contacted my host but had no reply.
Using PHP
Don't know about PHP and 'user account'. Not that bright I'm afraid.
Host runs windows.

Chmod is only a Linux / Unix thing. Not something that applies on Windows. Bit you still need the correct file permissions on Windows. The script needs permission to create a file. If this can't be arranged becuase you only have very limited control over your web server, and your hosting company offers no support, then there isn't much we can do.

Changed to a Linux server.
Everything works well. Tried the 'report' feature and that woks brilliantly.
