Exlcuded files - excluded from results, included links not indexed, or both

I'm considering Zoom Search for my website. I have certain pages in my site which are index/table of contents pages. I want to exclude these pages as showing up as search results but I don't want to exclude them from having their links indexed (it's necessary to follow the links in these files to get to the rest of the pages). I couldn't tell from the User Guide how excluded files are handled?

There are several options. But the easy one is to use ZOOMSTOP/ZOOMRESTART tags.

If I understand this, I could use ZOOMSTOP and ZOOMSTART around the links in these navigation/table of contents pages instead of excluding the files. This way it would spider the links (and index linked pages) but would not index the contents of the page within the ZOOMSTOP/ZOOMSTART tags. Is this correct?

Yes, that's correct. But is is ZOOMRESTART and not ZOOMSTART
