  • Search results display - multiple contextual results

I am a user of an older version of Zoom. I would love to see a future feature of multiple contextual results displayed. For instance, my sites are genealogy based and people names are the most searched terms. If someone were to search for "Carter", I would like them to see contextual results with every instance of Carter highlighted. Using a different search engine, I get these results:

    http://www.picosearch.com/cgi-bin/ts.pl?index=131319&calln=6&lastq=%2Bfrost%20%2B131 319partitionnn&sortsel=rel&psel=all&opt=ANY&doc0=0 &query=Carter

Using Zoom, I get one or two instances, as long as they are on the same line:

    http://www.genealogybuff.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?zoom_query=Carter

    Thanks,
    Bill

[This post was moved to a new thread and a new group and the titled edited to reflect the topic]

See this older post about multiple context results for a discussion of the issue.

While Pico displays more context than Zoom in general, there are instances where Pico doesn't display any context for a search term at all. For example, try a search for, John ANVILE on your site. There is zero context for ANVILE, but the word appears on the first page.

You also appear to be using a early V4.0 release of Zoom. You should really consider upgrading to V5, it would be faster, allow more configuration and give more accurate results. If you don't want to purchase the upgrade at least take the free V4.0 to V4.2 upgrade.

You should also not post in the V5 section of the forum, if you are using V4.0 and please start a new thread rather than adding on to unrelated old posts.
