  • Can't have any PDF files indexed in spider mode!

    Hi!

I am sure it is a very basic solution, but I cant have any PDF files indexed.

    I have:
    1) Zoom 5.1 build 1006
    2) I can have these 2 pdf files indexed locally
    3) yes the extension is installed (it works locally!)
    4) the files are not locked
    5) same files on the web
    6) pick up all the slowest speed for better indexing
    7) folders where are the 2 PDF files got these permissions 755
both PDF file sizes are under the maximum size I set up in the Zoom config
    9) index log always says: file extension, .pdf indexed: 0

Maybe it is the way I set up the Spider URL. It is like this:
    1) Spider From: http://www.mysite.com/folder1/PDF
    2) base: http://mysite.com/folder1/
    3) both .PDF files are inside the PDF folder

Again, I am sure it is something basic but I can't see it!

    Thanks

    Roger

In spider mode HTML links are followed to find files. So my guess is that your start point doesn't have links to your PDF files.

In offline mode, this is not as issue, as links are not required.

So one soluion would be to make a index.html file in your PDF folder that listed all the PDF files. Other solution might be to turn on the web servers directory listing function (which will automatically build up a HTML page for you).
