When the search results are displayed, there is the "paragraph" underneath the page title (in green on the default layout). where does that information come from? We have a lot of junk results and I want to clean up the pages that are causing the garbage.

This is normally the page's meta description for a HTML file.
It appear near the top of your HTML code like this,
<meta name="DESCRIPTION" content="This is text that described the page">
If the document is a Word or PDF document, then it is from the document properties. (For example in Word, select File / Properties to view this data).
