Help! Confused on where to start

Hi!

I would like to use Wrensoft for one of my websites, but I'm not sure what I need to do. I've read the manual, but still don't know where to put everything.

Do I need to upload something to my server? or is everything done on my pc?

I have downloaded zoomsearch.exe on my computer. Does this really need to be on the server?

I'm sorry for the dumb questions. I'm new at this!

The best place to start is with the Zoom demo movie.

But as a super brief summary:
The most common way to use the Zoom software is to install the download package on your desktop PC. Then use the software to create a search index for your web site. (The search index is a set of files created during the indexing process). Then you upload these files to your web site.

One of the uploaded files is a script (e.g. search.php or search.asp, etc..). This script, when run on the server, is your search function.

But there are also other ways to use the software, for example to create a search function for a CD, or by installing the indexer on the server itself.
