indexing in spider mode without links to the files

Hi,
I would like to use zoom to search pdf and text files that are frequently updated on a server. Is there any way to perform indexing online without having the individual files linked on a web page or site map? (I'm currently indexing offline.) Thanks in advance.

Spider mode indexing (which uses the HTTP protocol) is slower than offline indexer (which uses the file system). So this might be one reason to stick with offline mode.

If you don't have HTML links to the files on the server nor a site map, then you could turn on the directory listing feature on your server and index the folders. The Apache web server software often has directory listings on by default. IIS normally has directory listing turned off by default.
