  • Hide tagged portion of a link?

I'm new to Zoom - first day.

First problem: We have many tagged links on our site: for example on a single page there may be three links to the same page, tagged like so:

    www.mysite.htm/video.htm?id=head
    www.mysite.htm/video.htm?id=menu
    www.mysite.htm/video.htm?id=body

So: I've set Zoom to remove duplicate pages, so searching on "video" means I only get one search result of the page, which is good.

However: The remaining one link from the search page still contains one of the tags, say www.mysite.htm/video.htm?id=head

This is going to badly affect the analytics of our site (the reason the tagging is there in the first place). How do I tell Zoom to get rid of the tag portion of the link?

    Thanks, Linda

Rather than relying on the duplicate page detection feature (which needs to download a page before it detects the page is a duplcate) you can skip two thirds of your URLs by adding,
    ?id=menu
    ?id=body
to the page skip list. This should dramatically speed up indexing.

Zoom will only find the link with the ?id=head if that is what you use to link to the pages. If you don't have any links to follow like this Zoom will not find them. There is no automatic way in Zoom to reformat the URLs.
